"I HAVE A DREAM THAT MY FOUR LITTLE CHILDREN WILL ONE DAY LIVE IN A NATION WHERE THEY WILL NOT BE JUDGED BY THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN BUT BY THE CONTENT OF THEIR CHARACTER."-------Martin Luther King Jr.
THIS QUOTE MIGHT HAVE BEEN IMPORTANT TO THE AUDIENCE BECAUSE THEY WANTED THEIR WORD TO BE HEARD AND MARTIN LUTHER KING WAS MAKING IT HAPPEN. PEOPLE WERE TIRED OF BEING JUDGED BY THEIR SKIN COLOR AND BEING LOOKED AS SOMETHING LESS THAN THEMSELVES. THE AUDIENCE THAT WAS LISTENING TO THIS SPEECH PROBABLY AGREED BECAUSE THEY HAD CHILDREN TOO AND DIDN'T WANT THEM TO GO TO THE SAME THAT THEY DID.
I THINK THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE EVEN UNTIL NOW THEIR IS STILL SEGREGATION GOING ON EVERYWHERE EVEN IN OUR SCHOOL. WHEN EVER YOU SEE CLICKS THEIR ALWAYS HISPANICS IN ONE SIDE AND COLORED IN THE OTHER. PEOPLE TRY MAKE THIS A DIFFERENCE BUT WHEN YOU WALK INTO A CLASS IT IS ALWAYS LIKE THAT. TEACHERS MIGHT NOT DO IT ON PURPOSE BUT WE ARE ALL LOOKED AT FOR OUR COLOR NOT OUR CHARACTER IT WAS HARD FOR MARTIN LUTHER KING TO GET HIS WORD ACROSS BUT HE DID. TH ATS WHY WE NEED TO FOLLOW HISTORY THAT FALLS BEHIND US BECAUSE WE NEED TO FIGHT FOR OUR RIGHTS AND WE KNOW THAT ONE DAY WERE GOING TO BE MOTHERS TOO AND WE DON'T WANT OUR CHILDREN TO GROW UP WITH ALL THIS SEGREGATION THAT IS STILL GOING ON IN CERTAIN AREAS.

Hi Mayra. Well its true what you wrote Martin Luther King Jr. had enough that white people were treating them based on their skin color rather than their character. I would make things much easier and peaceful no onw would judge you because you were different from them, but rather by the way you act and behave around people. Also it was about time they spoke up for what they wanted and believed in, if they didn't who would. Yet like you said the drwam of MLK hasn't come true we look and treat African Americans not as bad as before, but somewhat similar to it.
I ask myself, why did the white people treat the african american so bad? Like you said they should look at them as in their character not color. I also have seen that in school too, how hispanics sit in one place and amfrican americans in the other. I hang around with everybody, why cant everybody just get along?
Yes that is true. I won't like this segregation to continue. I agree that this was a really hard work for Martin Luther King. Nice Work =).
hey mayra i totally agree with you that we should not let segregation tear everyone apart. n also that we should fight for our right because thats the promise that this country has made us ha we kinda were on the same pg lol imma be a father not a mother. n i wouldnt like it if my children would be treated different because of their race or color. you knoe segregation is still going on because now that they have their freedom they dont really show it. everyone cant just be at least grateful that they are somewere that there is freedom. instead they make it hard to be with another type of race in the same place.wow this world and country is so messed up for that right. thanks for commenting my blog:)
people are ignorant they dont see what there suppose to see. Like the color of ones skin has anything to do with anything. The actions will show who you really are.
thanks for the comment
hwy what you wrote is true so true that people made him understand him and that he spoke his word out. It will make everybody more calmer and more charming when all of us are together.
Great find on the music video! I like how Common (artist) raps about MLK's dream for racial equality and freedom but instead of showing Blacks' struggles, he shows Jews' experience of racism (The Holocoust). I think that we need to do as he does and listen to everyone's struggle, because when it comes right down to it, we are all people who want good things for ourselves and our families.
